Kidney disease presents a pressing and critical challenge in modern healthcare.
There are an estimated 37 million patients affected by kidney disease in the US
Of these, 807 thousand patients are grappling with kidney failure.
The current treatment landscape has plenty of gaps to fill and despite the overwhelming prevalence, there are 0 approved first-in-class medicines to effectively address these conditions.
Lupus Nephritis
Lupus Nephritis (LN) presents a particular challenge.
It is characterized by the progressive deterioration of kidney function due to autoimmunity.
Around half of patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) develop LN, affecting more than 100,000 individuals in the US alone.
Effective treatment options remain scarce: Immunosuppressive treatments induce remission only 30% of the time.
